Gujjars of punjab are mainly found in Nawanshahr, Hoshiarpur, Patiala, Fatehgarh, Mohali and Anandpur District.In this area, their villages are In heavy concentration.They are both hindu as well as sikh by religion.Their main profession is agriculture and bussiness.They are called as chaudhary in the area.The last names of the Punjabi Gujjars include Kasana, Khepar, Kataria, Chaudhary, Bjarh, Chauhan, Bhumbla, Chandpuri, Chechi, Meelu, Hans, Bagri, khatana ,Thickria, Dhaoo, bahrwal,beeth,bhatia and others. The tradition of buffalo milk in Punjab can be attributed to the nomad Gujjars arriving in the Punjab plains with their live stock. There are old folk songs about Gujjar women selling milk in Punjabi villages and the nomad Gujjars displaying their livestock of buffaloes for sale. There are many Gujjar villages in Punjab (India) and most of these Gujjars are Sikhs. Even now, the nomad Gujjars come from Kashmir and sell their artifacts and livestock in Punjab. These nomad Gujjars are mostly Muslims just like their counterparts in Pakistan.

There is one Gujjar Bhawan in Chandigarh which helps the ecomonic backward gujjars (boys and girls) for an education and also give rooms on concessional rate for the stay for gujjars. It was founded by Amrik singh Meelu of Chandpur Roorki, Balachaur, Nawanshar, Punjab (From the same village from where Kuldeep Singh Meelu or Chandpuri is from). Apart from this, there are lot of punjabi gujjars who are in diffrent part of the globe like US, Canada, UK etc. Gujjars of the punjab are considered to be brave and loyal caste so lot of them are in punjab police and in security of the politicians

The Balachaur consituncey in punjab has overall 1.28 lakh voters, largely comprising Gujjars.
Currently in punjab, Nand lal of balachaur is a only gujjar MLA. He belongs to the Akali Dal party. Ms Santosh Kataria first gujjar woman candidate who taken part in contest for MLA in independent punjab in 2007. She lost to another gujjar candidate Nand lal in 2007 but was Zila Parishad chairperson in 2005. She has good oratory skills, beams with confidence and has won the Zila Parishad chairperson post two years back.

population of gujars in patiala is less as compared to nawashahar district in patiala dist. gujars live in following villages/cities; rajgarh(from where i belong),hassanpur,ajraur,chamaru,badholi gujran,ballamgarh, ballian,gannaur,behru,dudhan gujran,chaprarh,kheri gujran,pasiana,kath mathi,rawas,khairpur,kharola,khanpur,kalbanu,dedhna,alampur,badshahpur,sassa gujran dhabi gujran
apart from these rough no. of families living in cities are ; 40 familirs in patiala,50 families in nabha,10 families in rajpura 10 families in patran.
some villages which were earlier in patiala dist. now have gone to newly created mohali dist are; bijanpur,mianpur,mukandpur,haripur hinduan,punsar,kheri.
the villages in adjoing dist. sangrur are; badalgarh,banga,ramgarh gujran,harau,khang,dugal,
with regards; karnail singh

the gujjars of the world are same and please dont specify any particular region... as it differentiates us ...its the time of integration for all of us.... if we loose this time wont able to come up ever ... so please appriciate all the gurjars among the world ..

i request my all gujjar brothers n sisters that bycott this dahej ka danav mr.rustam singh from our community.as i saw online you tube news regarding his cruel behaviour with his daughter in law,its very shamefull that a well known n minister rank n highest positon rank retd IG of madhya pradesh keep himself so low profile only for the sake of money in the form of dowry.so i personally request u all gujjar bhai's to boycott him from all gujjar sammellans n our society.

1. Ch. Rehmat Ali invented the name for the Muslim Majority area of the western part of India. He was founder of Pakistan National Movement in Great Britain. Hiii dear gujjar.. I m sandeep singh from laksar, haridwar..bros why u nt mentioned ludhiyana,firozpur and ropar areas of gujjars. Anyways bros i wanna 9 dat i heared dat some punjabi gujjar bro had launched an album on gujjars but unfortunately banned by govt after 3 or 4 days of releasing, so bros pleazzz n pleazzz if any gujjar bro can provide me dat album or some songs of dat.. Bros also want 2 know about punjabi movie "do sher" and dat "gujjra.." song of dat movi n all such media if i can get...hey bros u must preserve such media..u kno how jatts r takin advantages of just media.karamjeet,geet...veero please reply me as sun as posible.
