Whenever the freedom movement raised in Rajisthan Gurjars joined the movement but new Jaggirdars, (Rajputs) always helped foreign Muslim to suppress the movement. Such Gurjar chief such as Parmar ruler of Abu and Pratihar chief of Mandore etc treacherously ousted from the area.
The foreigners dishonored people. Once Allauddin ask Maughis (Quazi of Bayana) “How we should behave the Hindus”. He replied “Either they must adopt Islam or be killed.” Allauddin said, “We are killing Hindus since centuries, nevertheless, muqaddams are strong enough to collect revenue from villages for their own chieftainship, they are expert at bow and arrow and do not hesitate to draw up sword if their sentiments are aroused.” Then Quazi replied, “They must be suppressed to such an extent if an officer splits in a Hindu’s mouth, he must open his mouth with out showing any sign of hatred on his face.” Hindu Jagirdars adapted the same policy to the local population in order to raise their social status in local society, which hated them due to their illegitimate birth. These jagirdars became strong and stronger under the shadow of Muslims and more aristocrats they become for the local population. As the time went on these slavish aristocrat became a group under a new name.
In 15th century, Tomars captured fort of Gwalior. Among them Man Singh Tomar was a famous ruler who built the famous Gurjari Mahal for the brave Gurjar girl Mrig Nayani. Mrig Nayani was from Chandela sub caste of Gurjars. Her brother Atal Rai Chandela whose wife was Lakha Rani was brave man.
The Gurjars of Rana Nagar and Gothan became famous during 14th century. They fought successful fight against the new chiefs whom one of their heroes Dev Narayan expelled from the area. Dev Narayan now worshiped as a Saint in Rajisthan.
Dor Gurjar built forts at Dabhoi and Pava Garh (Now in Baroda, Gujarat) after the fall of Anhilwara in 1300 CE. In 1484CE, Muslims attacked these Gurjars. They did not accept subjugation and retire to Turanmal hills in North West Khandesh, from where they made incursion on possessions of the Muslims.
The Reve Gurjars migrated from Ranthambhore in 1300CE and occupied Junagarh fort in 1314CE in Kathiawad. They proved most troublesome to the governors of Delhi Empire; at last, a Chapi Rajput with Muslim soldiers sent to subjugate these Gurjars. Having being defeated these Reve Gurjar moved further south and forcibly took possession of Nilgarh, Kargarh, Nimar, Ashirgarh and Thalnerhill.
The whole area from Satluj up to Narmda divided into several principalities, which were being governed by Gurjar feuds before 1300CE. These feudal lords referred as Rana and Maharana. The Sultan of Delhi on tribute bestowed these feudal seats of Gurjars on the local men of slavish mind after 1300CE. These men and their families formed in a group under the name of Rajput. The Muslims so abundantly used the word Rajput that it began to apply wrongly to ancient Gurjar ruler also. Nevertheless, there was no community by the name of Rajput before 1300CE. Allauddin Khilji died in 1316CE. In Deccan collapsed all of a sudden, as the Muslim governor became independent everywhere more or less this situation continued up to Akbar’s time 1556CE. During this period, some rajputs become powerful by annexing the weak Rajput jaggirs with their own; during this period the Rajput towns Bikaner, Jodhpur, Kota, and Bundi etc founded. In Aurangzeb’s time, a Rajput King founded Jaipur city. The political position of Rajputs was heights by Mughals and their panegyrists prepared false pedigree trees during 15th-17th centuries to raise their social status. Akbar completely ruined Gurjars. However, Gurjars joined hands with Rajputs whenever the Rajputs stood against the Muslims. Gurjar and Rajputs had fought jointly against Sher Shah Suri when he entered Rajisthan.
