Dear all gurjars Please tell me about Prithavi Raj Chauhan, is he gurjar or rajput. regards Rajesh Choudhary slightly tricky this one is  ppl say he was a rajput (but we nvr might know coz history is always a mutilated version of facts written to glorify the winner) ).waise bhi rajput is also a subclan of gurjars |

The Father of Prithvi Raj chauhan was a Gujjar chauhan. The mother of Prithvi raj Chauhan was Gujjar tanwar from Delhi. The Grand mother of him was a Gujjar Solanki from Gujarat Patan. Moreover there was no Rajput word in History at the time of his rule, though the word Raj- Putra was used in literature. In History the word rajput appeared in 1398. Now you yourself can answer your questions.
Also he married in Gujjars and the Gotra of his wife was Dhama. The brave fighter, Khande rao Dhama who had almost killed Mohammad Ghori in the first battle between two was his brother in law. The other brother in law was Kaimas who was his Prime Minister. The youngest one of these Dhama brothers, and was Pundir. The Descendents of Pundir are Rajputs. I would like to know if there is a Gotra of Pundirs in Gujjars also?

All The Rajputs are not subclan of Gujjars. Only the Rajputs sharing gotras with them are having the same origin. The Rastrakutas ( The rahtors) are not Gujjars and were bitter enemy of at one point of time and most of the the time were vassals of Gujjar Pratihars and fuedatories of Gujjar Solankis. Vassals are inferiors kings than the fuedatories since they are fuedatory of a fuedatory king. Jaichand, the father in law of Prithviraj Chauhan and a friend of Ghori was a Rathore.
The Kushwahas ( Jaipur State) are non Gujjars and were Vassals of Gujjar Pratihars and fuedatory of Gujjar Solankis. They claim that they are the descendents of Raja Nal ( Nishad Raj) and are from Narwar Garh ( The other name of narwar garh ( Near Gwalior) is Nishidha, the kingdom of Nishads).

Yes, There is pundir gotra in gurjars also.
I know a person (gurjar) of pundir gotra, he belongs to a village near Haridwar.

Delhi was founded by Gujjar Tanwars in 736AD.
Delhi was founded by Gujjar Tanwars (Also known as Tuars,Toors, Tomars in History) in 736AD. The earliest reference Of Gujjar Tanwars is found in an inscription at Pehowa, ancient Prithudaka, in Karnal district of present day Haryana of the reign of Gujjar Pratihar king MahendraPal I. It states that their was a king Juala of the Gujjar Tanwar dynasty who obtained prosperity by looking after the affairs of Gujjar Pratihar king of kannauj.
The Gujjar Chauhan king Guaka II of Sakambri,the Son of Gujjar Chauhan king Chandan killed Gujjar Tanwar king Rudrena in the battle. At that time both the Gujjar tanwars and the Gujjar Chauhans were the Fuedatory chief (Samants) of Gujjar Pratihars. The foundation of the religious buildings at Pushkar were laid by the wife of Gujjar Chauhan king Chandan at that point of time.
The Son and successor of Guaka was Vakpatiraja I who ruled in the first quarter of tenth century and he stated to have harrased TantraPal who was on his way to Anant Gochara (seems to be country near Sikar) with a message of his overlord, the Gujjar Pratihars of kannaj. This statement makes it clear that at this point of the Gujjar Chauhans acquired enough power to defy the authority of Gujjar Pratihars the overlords of all kings of india.
Gujjar Chauhan VakpatiRaj built a Shiva temple at Pushkar. He had three sons Simharaja, Vatsraja and Lakshmana. Laksman founded a kingdom at Naddulla, in southren Marwar where his sucessors ruled for several centuries.Simhraja atscended the throne after Vakpati raja. He defeated the Gujjar Tanwar Prince of Delhi named Salvan and put in to prison a number of Gujjar Tanwars princes. In order to liberate them, the Gujjar Pratihar king of Kannauj the Devpal came to the house of Gujjar Chauhan at Sakambri in person. This was obviously done to avoid a clash between two Gujjar clans ( Gujjar Tanwars of Delhi and Gujjar Chauhans of sakambri). Subsequently the Simraja who ruled in the third quarter of tenth century freed his territories from the suzerainty of the Gujjar Pratihars who had about the time lost their imperial position. He is the first among the Gujjar Chahaman kings to assume the title of Maharajadhiraj. He granted a number of villages to the temple of Harshnath, which was constructed in AD 956 and lies near the village of harshnath about seven miles of Sikar.
The Gujjar Tanwars continued to rule Delhi till the middle of twelth century though most of their territories in Haryana were taken over much earlier by Gujjar Chauhan king Vishaladev ( The famous Beesal Dev). King Beesal Dev was the real brother of Mandalji, the grandfarher of God DevNarayan who is worshiped among Gujjars and Rajputs of Gujjars Clans in Rajasthan and Malwa. Rana Sanga a Gujjar Guhilot from Chittor used to worship God DevNarayan to santify his armour before going to any war which is common practice here to worship our forefathers before such acts. Mandalji built a big water tank ant Mandalgarh near Bhilwara, which is still there.
PrthiviRaj Chauhan was born in this branch of Gujjar Chauhans with Gujjar Tanwar mother, a princess of Delhi and thus became the king of Delhi since his maternal grandfather Anangpal, the Gujjar Tanwar king of Delhi had no son and adopted his grandson Prithviraj Chauhan.
