After India got independence the socially and economically deprived casts were identified by a Committee called Kaka Kalekar Committee in the year 1951. Gurjars and Meenas both were recommended by the committee. Meenas were included but Gurjars were not. Despite the fact both the casts were having same social and economic standard. Britishers put Gurjars and Meenas both in Criminal tribe categeroy. Gurjars were the one who kept fighting the Britishers and they were not happy with them.
I do agree that Gurjars are well off in some areas like Delhi, Noida / Faridabad BUT what you see here is not the case in Rajasthaan,H.P. M.P. and Eastern U.P. I have seen in person that people really need to be uplifted there to bring them up.

nice little essay of facts mr. AP....but just one clarification....it's not that only the gurjars are being targeted....had the jats also behaved in the same manner, they also would have faced similar consequences or any other community for that matter.....and mr. Ap one more thing with due respect....the gurjars in rajasthan were not protesting peacefully except in very few places....and no one was hurt in those places.....the police became violent only after the gurjars started throwing stones at them.....and some of them were also carrying some "desi tamanchas" with them.....and they were also blocking a national highway which was affecting the country economically and socially....i myself am a gurjar, but disapprove of the actions they've taken in the past few days.....incidents such as these bring shame to india of the 21st century which is trying on becoming a world power and securing a seat in the un security council....how can a country so divided even think of presenting a case for inclusion into the security council....and it's not the gurjars fault...it's the fault of our politicians and our forefathers who have planted the seeds of reservation(curse it!) deep into our society.....

Dear Gurjars,I wants to discuss on the reservation issue pointwise 1. The makers of our Constitution made "Reservation" a household word. Their intentions were clear - upliftment of the poor and needy. But they failed to visualize the scenario when such upliftment was “achieved”. Ideally, there should have been a constantly reducing level of reservation by Law. With such an open-ended interpretation and scope for reservation, the political parties made it their “Agenda” – and ended up sowing the seeds for weakening our social fabric. Soon, reservation was no longer a privilege; it became a right – a right to die for … oops, to kill for! 2-those who got reservation today they are in high social status still not ready to leave the right even they are not ready to submitt other caste in this privilage, even other caste those were forwarded at that time (at the making of constitution57year ago) today most backword from them .The political parties are not in position to make them annoy by reducing the level of reservation hence the reservation seems to be endless. It is interesting to note that more and more communities in India are demanding to be included in the list of SC, ST and OBCs. This is aimed at ensuring their share in the attractive Reservation Pie. More and more communities and demanding their space in the already jam-packed room for the SC, ST and OBCs. At the same time, there is also vehement opposition to expand the list by already those who are in the list fearing dilution of their share. “Our [gujjar and meena - RA] culture is the same, our status in the villages is the same, we live side by side, share the same well and smoke hookah together. Why then do they get the jobs and scholarships but we don’t?”Colonal Bainsla says this is because the Meenas were given st status in 1954. “Reservations provide a sort of guarantee,” he says. “Give that guarantee to everybody or nobody.” as everybody is citizen of india 3.This is not possible till we are united for our demand .As whole country ovserved no political party and so called intellectual saw the murder of 21 gurjars by policefiring in rajasthan 5persons burned alive by meenas ,most said thing is that even hounorable supreme court ordered to file case against gurjar didnt say any thing about dead persons, this is very shamefull condition to us.Are we not cityzens of india?as a culture we say condolence massege even death ceramoney of a DOG ,did the gurjars of india do not have a condolence asppectation? so pityfor us.At the time when rajasthan was in fireSachin Pilot, Lok Sabha MP from Dausa, has said that not a single state government official had visited these areas where 14 people were killed in clashes and police firing when the Gujjar community demonstrated to demand scheduled tribe status. The firing on the unarmed crowd was ``unprovoked’’ and took place in the morning when the crowd was still gathering, he said.Dausa MP Sachin Pilot called the firing “reminiscent of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.” “The BJP government first fails to fulfil its promises, and when people demand the assurances be met, the police open fire. What kind of a government is this?” 4 After the demand of gurjar mahapanchayat at dholpur on 13 september ,and raising the issue in rajsthan assembly to had a judicial probe into deaths during gurjar reservatin agitation on Sep 18 : The Rajasthan government has decided to order a judicial probe into the death of at least 26 people in the violence and police firing during the Gujjar agitations held earlier this year, officials said Tuesday.
According to the decision taken Monday evening, retired high court judge Fatehchand Bansal will head the commission to look into the circumstances in which people were killed during the mass protests.the demand was held by four present MLAs named Prahalad gunjal,Atarsingh bhadana,Surendra rathor andranveer singh gudha thanks for them 5 Though Vij claims it as being debateable, his general tone suggests an overall favoring of caste-based reservations - a form of affirmative action - which is currently a heated debate in India as the Congress-led government proposed to not only increase reservations, but also extend them to include many more institutions. It might be notable to mention that as of now, the form of reservations in India provided is possibly like none other anywhere else in the world. There are reservations in all government jobs and institutions; they are allowed to taken the Civil Service Exam (one of the most competitive exams in the world) seven times as opposed to three; and much more. But then, the caste system is also like nowhere else in the world, though discrimination of some sort has existed in every society.
As a result of this, there are candidates who gain admission or secure jobs based on caste as opposed to merit. And it puts forward the general argument as to whether affirmative action ultimately serves the purpose or works against it in the long run. In India, where the ratio of the number of quality institutions to that of students is very low, resulting in cut-throat competition, such measures are disastrous and provoke extreme reactions (like self-immolation).
But perhaps Vij is correct in stating that most of the urban "yuppie" groups that denounce reservations are generally unaware of what a lower caste distinction really is like, though his use of the term 'objectivity' seems to mean much more.
When Youth for Equality / United Students / other ‘anti-reservationists’ oppose reservations, and speak about Dalits/OBCs, they claim to be doing so with a claim to ‘objectivity’, that is, they do not admit that the viewpoint(s) they are putting forward are of a certain section of society that is influential in shaping public opinion despite being in a minority.
But the middle-class is expanding. Is it better to squash it by artificially thrusting forward the lower class, or waiting for an economy to shape itself (though where that is heading and how long it will take is again debatable).
On the other hand, there is currently a protest by the Gujjar community in Rajasthan demanding Scheduled Tribe (ST) status. Meanwhile, the army has been called in to confront a raid by a rival Meena community against them. Whereas this might be a genuine concern, especially because Gujjars are classified as ST in some other states of India eg in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh which share the same lifestyle, culture and food habits. ``Till such time reservation policy exists, communities complying with the required norms should be given reservation," he said., it could also point at a deliberate attempt at hogging the benefits of reservations, and vote-bank politics. The BBC article explains it well enough. 6 Nobody is going to support gurjar agitation till they do not show the unity, because this is bloody vote politics.state government will send a letter by Oct 2, failing which community leaders would be consulted and a massive protest would be launched,' said K.L. Bainsla, head of the Gujjar Aarakshan Sangarsh Samiti. “Give Gurjars the SC (Scheduled Tribe) status before October 2nd or watch things take a dangerous turn,” Gurjar leader Colonel Bainsla gave an ultimatum to Rajasthan’s Vasundhara Raje government on Thursday. A Gujjar Mahapanchayat (mass meet) held in Rajasthan'sDholpur district Sep 13 had decided to court mass arrests from Oct 2, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, if the state government failed to send a letter by then. 7 THIS IS HUMBLE REQUEST TO ALL GURJARS TO PARTCIPATE IN 2ND OCTOVER MOVEMENT AND MAKE AWARE OF OUR GURJAR BROTHERS THIS IS THE TIME TO SHOW OURS UNITY AND IDEANTITY

Do the royal gurjar deserves ST status ?
Dear Manvinder singh andhana and all gurjar brothers, I agree 100% with you as your sentence that’ Progress in a society depends on many factors like your family background, financial status, infrastructure and opportunities etc.We can see this thing around us. See when Punjabi’s were migrated from Pakistan they had nothing in their hand. Now you can see Punjabi’s they are doing very well everywhere. See yadav's.these guys came in OBC quota with us and who is taking actual benefit of OBC quota. These guys only, why? So it depends on personal attributes also. ‘
But in the case of Rajasthan where gurjars are cattle rearing milk mans or small farmers where arrangement of two times food is difficult task, gurjers lives in remote forest areas to graze there cattle’s and for small agriculture land, once upon a time they were landlords but due to geographical location they remained cut off from mainstream society now they are uneducated and due to division of agriculture land in generations they have average of less then 2to 4 bighas of land per family ,this is very poor condition, they do not have basic infrastructure to taught there children in remote jungle areas where 95%population live ,do not have opportunity to teach there children in higher education because(1) whole family including children’s is involved in cattle rearing and(2) ignorant about education due to illiteracy(3) due to uncertainty of job , hence cant do other job. I am agree with statement of Mr. G.S AWANA guest of gurjarsonlne.com that’ After India got independence the socially and economically deprived casts were identified by a Committee called Kaka Kalelkar Committee in the year 1951. Gurjars and Meenas both were recommended by the committee. Meenas were included but Gurjars were not. Despite the fact both the casts were having same social and economic standard. Britishers put Gurjarsand Meenas both in Criminal tribe category. Gurjars were the one who kept fighting the Britishers and they were not happy with them. I contradict the statement of honorable chief minister of Rajasthan Mrs. vasundhara raje said after 13th September gurjar mahapanchayat’how does the helicopter and aero plane traveling society is deserves for reservation’ according to honorable supreme court 5to10% population may be forwarded in each society it does not makes any difference in labeling as backward. Moreover Meenas were a ruling cast, and were ruler of Matsya, i.e., Rajasthan, but their slow downfall began with the rise of the Rajputs and was completed when the British government declared them a “Criminal Tribe”. This very action was taken to support their alliance with Rajput kingdom in Rajasthan, .Scholars still disagree as to whether the Minas are an indigenous tribe, or whether they migrated to the region from Central Asia. According to Britannica, "the Minas are possibly of inner Asiatic origin, and tradition suggests that they migrated to India in the 7th century with the Rajputs" Gurjars traditionally belonged to the Kshatriya caste, and ruled over the Gurjara-Pratihara Kingdom -- an area comprising almost 60 per cent of South Asia during the 8th and 9th centuries gurjars have gloriospast no doubt Gurjars have lived on their productive labour. In recorded history, Rajasthan's Gurjars are far backward from mainstream caste in the region's society.Gurjars have not been able to produce civil servants, doctors, engineers, or even schoolteachers. They remain as backward as they had been for ages. We know, the Van Gujjars depend on cattle for their livelihood -- selling milk, sheep and goats to the mainlanders. There is similarity between Van Gujjars and the Gurjars of Rajasthan; it is the culture of cattle rearing. Van Gujjars of the Shivaliks (parts of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir) who enjoy Adivasi status for the purposes of affirmative action as available to the Adivasi masses of India. To Gujjars, a cattle rearing is an absolute necessity as that is the only source of sustenance they know. There is no way. They have remained with their occupational culture for ages, and arguably, are quite content. Not much has been researched or written about the predicament of the cattle rearers. In India, a cattle rearing is not recognized as an organized industry. By nature, even those with a single animal require the services of small hands -- of children, at some stage or the other during the day. Understandably, there cannot be a cow or buffalo that will give milk round the year. So, if a family has one cow, the logic of the availability of pure-milk throughout the year demands another cow. In the process, often, all the members including children are involved in taking care of the cows. So what price does cattle rearing demand from the family? Children are less likely to enroll in schools. Those who have enrolled are likely to drop out. The few who still manage to get a degree, tend to under-perform and hence are unfit in the job market. Rajasthan Gurjars, community as a whole with few exceptions though, is trapped in the tradition of cattle rearing. Since the Gurjars live in remote areas, they watch members of other communities getting into government jobs, which bring instant prestige and recognition in society. The gurjars of Rajasthan live in remote areas where no basic facility for education and due to cattle rearing necessity (in which whole family involved the only source of income) getting educated is difficult. Moreover the basic facility e.g. light water roads and medical education are not available in remote villages where gurjars live .Due to lifestyle of living in forest95% of gurjars fulfill the adivasi status because they have Geographical isolation, due to noneducated isolated from main stream have there own traditions and culture, in most of dang areas of dhaulpur like dhond, virja golari are the villages where there most of families have income less then 500 rupees per month Rajasthan's Gujjars have to pass the following test to qualify for Adivasi status: (1) Primitive traits (2) Geographical isolation (3) Distinct culture (4)Shy of contact with community at large (5) Economically backward
According to present scenario community qualify whole criteria now this is on community how does it represent for rights. To bring the society to mainstream yours -rambilassingh -phone 09314180633

DEAR MAZHAR BHAI ,KUNWAR PRASHANT BHAI AND ALL GURJAR BROS
I am highly impressed by your thinking towards community .I personally express my respect to you from my community; you both are really genius by ideas by thinking and understanding as well as participating in grief of gurjar community. I read through your ideas and got obliged that you are thinking about rajasthani gurjars pain. it is the gurjar blood that is boiling for his rajasthani brothers from Lahore and Bombay.
In fact every human sacrifice for community, country or for humanity should we appreciated .All 26 persons killed were unarmed 21 persons killed by police firing. on 2nd day 5 persons were burned alive by meenas .For those persons even honorable supreme court of India did not made any comment, contrary to that made a statement to lodge case against demonstrators and asked gurjars a violent caste
.At the time when Rajasthan was in fire sachin Pilot, Lok Sabha MP from Dausa, has said that not a single state government official had visited these areas where 21 people were killed in clashes and police firing when the Gujjar community demonstrated to demand scheduled tribe status. The firing on the unarmed crowd was ``unprovoked’’ and took place in the morning when the crowd was still gathering, he said.Dausa MP Sachin Pilot called the firing “reminiscent of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.”
All above incident was eye opening to all gurjar community that every community and political party was ignorant towards gurjars all forgot the courtesy that even death of a animal one should express his condolence.
This is ONE of the issue to brought together the gurjars of india and abroad, and to make thinking about upliftment gurjars from present condition to make them again royal gurjars of glorious past. THANKS from Dr rambilas singh gurjar MBBS.MS general surgeon

HI GURJARS, I DO AGREE THAT FIGHT FOR ST STATUS IN RAJASTHAN MAY NOT SOLVE PROBLEMS OF OUR CASTE FULLY. NOW THAT IT IS ON LET US SUPPORT IT. OR ELSE IT MAY BE SEEN AS OUR WEAKNESS. BESIDES THAT WE NEED TO FOCUS ON EDUCATION TO BECOME ECONOMICALLY AFFLUENT CASTE. WE HAVE THE QUALITIES TO DO SO . LETS FORM A SOCIETY . OPEN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS TO SUPPORT ONLY GURJARS . IT MAY BE TIME CONSUMING , BUT WILL HAVE LASTING EFFECTS. WE DO HAVE SEVERAL IAS, IPS & ARMY OFFICERS BESIDES OFFICERS IN OTHERS DEPARTMENTS IN A SIZEABLE NUMBER. THEY SHOULD HELP OUT ANY GURJAR THEY CAN IN WHAT EVER CAPACITY THEY CAN. OUR POLITICIANS NEED TO REMAIN & GET UNITED . A CONCERTED EFFORT IS REQUIRED FROM THEM . QUOTAS DEFINETLY HELP. WISH & PRAY TO GOD FOR NO MORE LOSS OF LIFE OF OUR GURJAR BRETHREN. MAY OUR STRUGGLE COME VICTORIOUS. NOTHING WRONG IN DEMANDING A 'GURJAR REGIMENT' IN INDIAN ARMY. WILL HELP US GREATLY. WE HAVE THE BEST FIGHTING CAPABILITIES. NO DOUBT ABOUT IT.

WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE WORST CONDITION OF GURJARS? Dear brothers, Today we are criticized by other community brothers to be illiterate, even honorable Supreme Court has tagged us as violent community. Most of the Gurjers brothers had already been preoccupied with sterile speculations, and seldom stood up in defense of his caste and culture. , because lack of interest in community. In present days I am studying history of gurjers on different web sites. I will try to write on gurjers for younger generation and those who search’s about gurjers on computer, which is available on authentic web sites, in scientific way, with reference number. Anybody who is interested can watch with his own eyes For the present condition of our community, Brother Mr. Vikaram gurjar member of gurjar_fast wrote to me and expressed as given below.
‘Although our past is very glorious, the purpose of its study and awareness would be first for all our community to realize, who we really are? And understand that we are at worst second to none other. However the real purpose of these studies should be to understand two things:
1. what traits about our community got us to the top in the past and which of those traits are relevant today?
2. What were the reasons we failed so miserably and are in the condition we are in today and how can we ensure that this does not happen again!?
Let me explain ‘every community remains united due to the Belief in a common goal, is what keeps it together’ disillusion (disappointment with the believed thought once it was considered to be good and true now seems without value) in that goal causes dissociation of community. .Not only gurjar caste but all Indian community saw the downfall in the Arabic invasion, moughal period and British period. Due to common goal, every time we fought united and got success, and when be got success our goals divided and fall down.
We all Indian suffered a lot during British period and were in bad condition most of communities stood up as in past half century the progress achieved by communities as following.
(1) The communities which were poor and illiterate ‘considered vote bank’ or ‘created vote bank by leaders’ for their common interest and avail government support for reservation castes. With the reservation they got economical support, easy bank loans various social schemes, law benefits. For study free books, scholarship, free education, free hostel after completion of study, quota in jobs, politics, bureaucracy, good community support by uplifted persons with jack cheque and degree (sifaris, economic help and undue favors as corruption). All these factors are necessary for a society progress, like soil water and fertilizer in plant development. All this devolvement is being achieved, by the income of our government, paid by us, in form of various taxes.
(2) The communities which were in main stream at the time of British, were educated and prosperous ,did self help by the politicians, bureaucrates, industrialist, and media whatever there on was on high social profile. Because they were educated and understood that "for development of self pride and for country, development of community is must". They developed various social organizations with unity. Developed societies are united with motto of social development; they are in good social reputation, economically best developed and able to do charity for other communities
(3)The gurjar community fought for freedom taking moral duty of real kshtriya and was crushed by britishers due to rebellion nature, most of gurjers were illiterate ,nobody think abaut gurjers wounded condition ,they were standing in queue, not awaiting for sympathy but everybody thought now britishers have gone everything will be all right soon .But the illiterate gurjers could not understood the democracy As Edward Albee quotes “Remember one thing about democracy. We can have anything we want and at the same time, we always end up with exactly what we deserve.” Our leader Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel (Iron man of India) played the key role in uniting the 604 different riyasats during the process of independence to unite Rajasthan. He was against castism like Mahatma Gandhi .but now the black Angrez (leaders and bureaucrats) are performing ‘BHAI BHTEEJABAD’the queue is never lasting
I am giving here example of gurjar community’s freedom fight “The gurjar and Muslim community considered most irreconcilable enemies to the britisher in the revolt of 1857(Imperrial Gazzetteer of india ,v.9,p.50.Avaliable online Digital South Asia library)” was crushed by brtishers in every aspects inhumanly. this is in the record of history that in area of meerut many villages of gurjar males including male children were hanged, and gurjar villages were made free of male population most of gurjers left villages and fled to hide themselves in remote areas as rebellion, This all was done to teach a lesson to other communiteis.this was the reason ‘as mentioned in gazetteer that Jat almost all and other castes took the side of government’ and enjoyed services in government’s mainstream. Gurjers and converted Muslim gurjers by the nature of warrior {Origin of gurjers the masters of Sanskrit Dictionary ‘Kalpdrum’ say that Gur-Jar means “One who use to defend the country by continuously defeating the enemy” (Gur means enemy and Jar means defeating)}. In the book”Heroic Hindu Resistance to Muslim Invaders(636AD to 1206 AD)Voice of India, new Delhi the writer of book Mr Sitaram Goel wrote about gurjers real history that for 600 years how they defended the country for 600 years. And mentioned very well abaut gurjar prince’s last aggression .( The Gwalior inscription of the Gurjara-Pratihar King, Bhoja I, tells us that Nagabhatta I, the founder of the family who ruled in Avanti (Malwa) around A.D. 725, defeated the army of a powerful Mlechha ruler who invaded his dominions.9 The Gurjara-Pratiharas were known to the Arab historians as kings of Jurz. Referring to one of these kings, an Arab historian wrote that Among the princes of India there is no greater foe of the Mohammaden faith than he.foot note no 9&10 Dr. Mishra concludes with the comment that Jayapala was perhaps the last Indian ruler to show such spirit of aggression, so sadly lacking in later Rajput kingsfoot note no 20)
This above truth in history tell genetic reason to be rebellion, martial, patriotic, nature of gurjers why they not compromised in past like rajputas and jats? Was this the fault of gurjers to sacrifice for country? According to present situation jats and rajputs compromised for self survival may be right? .According to science survival is impossible for a species without adaptation. For example the freedom fighters and rebellion kings are on road and most of disappeared. The king or caste who adapted and crash 1957 revolt in favor of britishers are enjoying as chief ministership.here I wants to quote a example of scindia family, “Maharaja Jayajirao Scindia of the Scindia dynasty was the king of the princely state of Gwalior from 1843 to 1886 under the British rule. During the Indian Rebellion of 1857, Sindhia gave valuable assistance to the British, at no little risk to himself. Early in June 1858 he was driven from Gwalior fort by Tantia Tope and the Rani of Jhansi, to whom all of his troops deserted. But on June 19, Gwalior was captured by Sir Hugh Rose and Jayajirao was reinstated. For his services lands worth 3 lakhs per year, including the city of Jhansi and the portion of Chanderi District west of the Betwa River, were made over, and he was allowed to increase his infantry from 3000 to 5000 men, and his artillery from 32 to 36 guns. The British continued to occupy Gwalior fort and Morar encampment (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jayajirao_Scindia)
Today on this rebellious nature in Rajasthan where govt had shooted 26 persons, honorable Supreme Court and whole other communities made comment as “VIOLENT COMMUNITY” If this patriotic and self pride community would have compromised in Arabic invasion period whole country would have converted to Muslim and if compromised during British period the achievement of freedom would have late.
After freedom of our country, on our introspection we had not faced a challenge for whole community like Rajasthan issue. Not only in Rajasthan, we are united all over the world for community. The ST status reservation may be to days issue and a single motto for the goal of upliftment in Rajasthan, but for future this has started a step towards social progress .quote
Conclusions (1) gurjar community should have one motto to be united ,this may be the progress of community or Rajasthan issue (2)for the enjoyment of democracy we must have unity and Education (3) we must have adaptation like other communities not to be remain as rebellion. With thanks yours rambilassingh Email> rambilassingh@yahoo.com

Dear Rambilasji,
Thanks for sharing information on Rajasthan happenings. I have gone thro your mails. Your knowledge and awareness on the community happenings and its social status is amazing. You really can not only read the pulse of your patients but also the community's.
I belong to Maharshtra (Jalgaon - Khandesh) and believe me that the condition of our community here is no different than in Rajasthan.
Well I understand that the community members in Jalgaon had taken a morcha in support of Rajasthan gujjars. We have one MLA from Shiv Sena Mr. Gulabrao patil.
But still our leadership needs to integrate and consolidate and someone really need to take the initiative in this direction.

Split in Gurjjar front as Bainsla calls off mass arrests PALAK NANDIPosted online: Thursday, October 11, 2007 at 0000 hrs Print EmailRajasthan: The move has not gone down well as he held talks with the state Govt in the absence of other leaders of the community JAIPUR, OCTOBER 10: After five days of speculation, talks between the Vasundhara Raje Government and Gurjjar leaders bore fruitful results with Col Kirori Singh Bainsla calling off the mass arrest programme and requesting Gurjjars lodged in jails to return to their homes on Wednesday.

The Gurjjar community had also decided not to sell milk until the Rajasthan Government made a positive settlement on its demand for ST status. As a mark of protest, several members of the community had even spilled milk on the roads.
Although Bainsla on Wednesday called off the agitation, his decision did not go down well with other leaders of the community such as expelled BJP MLA Prahlad Gunjal and suspended BJP MLA Attarsingh Bhadana. Several members of the community doubted Bainsla’s motive as he went ahead with the dialogue with the state Government in their absence.
“Not all senior leaders were present at the Ajmer Central Jail where the talks took place. How could Bainsla go ahead with the dialogue in their absence?” said Bhograj Gujjar. He, with his supporters, shouted slogans against Bainsla and the Raje Government outside the Central Jail after the decision was made public.
In a statement which was read out to the crowd outside the jail, Bainsla said that women, who were supposed to court arrests on Thursday, would not be doing so as the agitation had been withdrawn.
“Gurjjar leaders and the state Government will now hold round-table talks, in which each party will have five representatives. There will be no more protests or agitations and we will try to solve the problem through talks,” read the statement.
General Secretary of the state BJP Rampal Jat, who was leading the talks on behalf of the state Government, had attempted to initiate the dialogue on Saturday when he visited Bainsla at the Ajmer Central Jail. Thereafter, he accompanied Bainsla to Bharatpur on Monday after Gurjjars there stalled rail traffic. Bainsla appealed to members of the the community to maintain peace and the rail traffic was restored. Bainsla, Dr Roop Singh and Hari Singh Mahuwa were shifted to Ajmer Jail for talks.
With Gunjal and Bhadana absent from the scene, reports claimed that Bainsla had refused to participate in the dialogue on Tuesday morning. Ajmer Divisional Commissioner Deepak Upreti had requested Bainsla to call off the agitation.
Following this, the core committee of the Gurjjar Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti held a meeting. Gunjal and Bhadana were to be shifted to Ajmer by Tuesday evening. However, the final round of talks on Wednesday was held without them.
When asked about the absence of the rebel BJP Gurjjar leaders, Rampal Jat told The Indian Express that several leaders were still in jail. “It was a call that Gurjjar leaders had made. We had asked them if they would like to wait for the duo, but Bainsla and the party told us that was not needed. Anyway, Gunjal and Bhadana represent the community, but they are not the community,” said Jat.
The Gurjjar Aarakshan Samiti will now name five representatives who will be part of the dialogue with the state Government. The Gurjjar leaders have also handed over a six-point charter for the dialogue, which includes the state Government’s recommendation letter along with Justice Jasraj’s report; compensation for those who died or were injured during the agitation; criminal cases filed against the leaders to be withdrawn; and a judicial inquiry on the police firing during the agitation.
